WESTERLY ARTISTS & FOUNDERS

Julie Jacobson & Greta Dutton

Originally founded in 2017 by Julie Jacobson, Greta Dutton, and Beth Goodman, Westerly Studio is now run by Julie and Greta. We love being integrated in our community and having a fun walkable place for people to create, congregate and have some fun. We are big believers that art and creative expression are more important than ever.  It’s how we express ourselves and connect to one another.  It’s critical to childhood development, improving emotional balance and appreciation of diversity. We want this to be a a space that inspires!

JULIE JACOBSON was trained as a graphic designer with a minor in fine art. She has been selling her paintings for over ten years in local galleries and boutique shops, working as a graphic designer for over 20, and teaching art classes to kids. This background definitely plays a role in her art. Her current paintings merge art and design; each painting is a study in composition, color, and story and dissects our everyday conversations into something tangible. Julie lives with her family in Magnolia. She also tries not to leave, which is another reason Westerly is just the right spot for her.

GRETA DUTTON studied art at Pepperdine University and DePauw University and graduated with a BA in Studio Art with an emphasis in oil painting. Her first real art job was creating and painting photography backdrops during summer breaks of college. After college, she worked as a graphic and web designer in the media production and communications industry in Indianapolis. She continued freelancing while she worked 11 years for her family's four generation ribbon and bow manufacturing company where she wore many hats. With the sale of the business and move to Seattle in 2014, she decided to focus on her love of art and kids. She lives in Magnolia with her husband, two daughters, and two puppies.
